Virgin Media COVID-19 Update

We’re keeping Ireland Connected

As everyone in Ireland works together to contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we understand how important it is for you to stay connected with your family, friends and colleagues, where many people are now working from home. Our top priority is to protect the health and safety of everyone we work with while continuing to provide you with the best customer care. Not only that, our News teams in Virgin Media Television are keeping the nation informed and updated during this fast-moving situation.

Here’s what we’re doing to keep Ireland connected when we all need it most:

What we’re doing for our staff

Every day, people, businesses and public services all over Ireland rely on Virgin Media to stay connected. As the current situation continues to evolve, our people are central to everything we do. We will continue to make their safety our priority and have taken the necessary steps for our staff to work from home. These measures are in place to further support social distancing recommendations, limit gatherings of people and ensure the well-being of our customers and people. Our Care team are helping this process and are encouraging customers to use our digital channels when contacting us - including WhatsApp and our online self-service if at times you can’t reach us through our normal channels. While, over in our broadcast centre, our presenters and reporters have moved interviews to take place via google hangouts.

What we’re doing for our customers

We know how important it is for customers to stay connected at home and in business. We’re confident that we are prepared for a wide variety of situations and our broadband network has the capacity to handle spikes and shifts in usage patterns at any time of the day. Whether you’re working from home or doing school work in virtual classrooms, we’ll ensure you remain connected. We also know that being stuck indoors can be challenging at times. So when your work is done, we have our great selection of box sets, catch-up TV and movies waiting for you to discover, or you can simply stay connected online in any room using our Smart Wi-Fi. Also don’t forget our biggest mobile offer at the moment gives you unlimited 4G data, calls and text.

What we are doing actively to support our Government

Virgin Media Television is playing a critical role in keeping the nation connected, informed and updated during these critical times.

Our dedicated reporting and editorial teams are bringing trusted news and current affairs to audiences across Ireland every day. We have also increased our programming in line with our public service broadcasting role so that all communities are receiving essential updates from our Government and Public Health Experts.

We are supporting urgent projects and requirements for key Government departments to deal with the crisis, such as new treatment facilities, remote working and additional capacity. The hospitality sector has also been severely impacted by the crisis, and we are actively working on solutions to reduce pressure for our SME customers, both from the point of view of creating working from home solutions, to solutions around billing and charges. Please stay safe in these uncertain and unprecedented times; the health and wellbeing of our staff, their families and loved ones is our number one priority while also doing everything we possibly can to keep our customers connected, informed and supported at the same time.
