The Terrific TV You Need To Catch This Week

Grainne Keenan starring as Fiona Hogan in Blood

There’s a whole heap of tantalising telly to look forward to this week – so get comfy! From deadly drama and super sci-fi to cracking comedy and musical madness, you’re guaranteed to find something that’s right up your street; grab your day planner and your remote, and check out your watchlist…

BLOOD

Monday @ 9pm, Virgin Media One, Virgin TV 103

The second season of the homegrown hit has already kicked off – get up to speed on Virgin Media Player if you’ve been left behind! – and we’ve already remembered just why we were so hooked last time out! Things are seriously amiss for the Hogan family again (again!), with Fiona in the firing line this time, but we know it’s only a matter of time before every single one of them ends up caught in the web again! If one episode isn’t enough, then good news on that front too; Virgin Media TV customers can catch next week’s episode at 10pm On Demand!

BLUE BLOODS

Monday @ 10pm, Sky Witness, Virgin TV 124

The greatest moustache on the box is back, as Tom Selleck and the rest of the Reagans return for a tenth season of the police procedural. Jamie and Eddie are now married, but don’t think for a second that that means things are settling down; the usual combination of investigations, in-fighting and incidents arrive thick and fast once more. Sure what would the show be without them?!

ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST

Wednesday @ 10pm, E4, Virgin TV 112

This weird and wonderful comedy tells the story of a woman who finds herself with a mass of musical memories implanted in her brain – and an ability to perceive the thoughts of those around her in tuneful, rhyming form! Jane Levy is excellent in the title role, while the songs are predictably solid, too; with such an inventive premise, though, we’re most excited to see where on earth it ends up going!

THE TRIP TO GREECE

Tuesday @ 10pm, Sky One, Virgin TV 114

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon have become the titans of the travelogue, and the fourth (possibly final) jaunt sees them getting classical… not that they were ever averse to that before! The tone is unique – it’s hard to tell if their banter and barbs are real or not! – and the wit razor-sharp. You might even spot a few tips for your next holidays too!

WAR OF THE WORLDS

Thursday @ 9pm, FOX, Virgin TV 126

Our own Gabriel Byrne stars as the survivor-in-chief in this magnificent mini-series, which reimagines H.G. Wells’ classic novel in modern-day Europe. There’s dynamism, dread and dog robots, with heart-pumping horror combined with more delicately-crafted drama; the word epic is usually thrown about with reckless abandon, but it’s well deserved right here!
