The Top Games We Can't Wait For in 2021

Hitman 3

OK, so there’s a long list of things we’re looking forward to in 2021; that much we all know! And while certain priorities might rank a little above the hottest games hitting the shelves over the next 12 months, we can’t help but at least feel a little excitement when we look at what’s in store!

In the latest issue of PLAY Magazine – which you can check out right here – we picked out a few of the standout titles that’ll be putting your broadband to use during the New Year – so get your thumbs ready for this lot!

HITMAN 3

PC, PS 4, PS 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Stadia

Landing on January 20th, the latest instalment in the awesome assassin series is poised to be darker than previous efforts – and since it’s always been a pretty fraught affair, we’re expecting nails to be positively chewed away once this one lands! For the full Agent 47 experience, it’s also VR compatible; one of the most scintillating experiences in gaming is about to get a whole lot more real!

FAR CRY 6

PC, PS 4, PS 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia

Dripping with style and boasting the biggest world in the series to date, the shooter gets tropical in its latest incarnation, arriving February 18th. Starring Giancarlo Esposito – that’s Gus Fring to any Breaking Bad fans out there! – and taking place on a Carribean island, it promises all of the typically dazzling visuals and thrilling gameplay you’d expect from the franchise, with heaps of new twists and turns for good measure!

HALO INFINITE

PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Master Chief is coming back – and if you’re any type of gaming fan, those words should be enough to fill your heart with joy! This one was originally slated to arrive in August, but we’re confident it will be more than worth the wait; a game that’s always been top of the class when it comes to a bit of multiplayer madness, it seems tailor-made for a brand new chapter in the year ahead!

RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE

PC, PS 5, and Xbox Series X/S

Those of a nervous disposition need not apply – because if this survival horror is good for one thing, it’s causing players to sleep with the light on for weeks afterwards! A direct sequel to the blistering Biohazard, there’ll be thrills, spills and bloodthirsty baddies in plentiful supply, but it’s the rich Gothic setting that looks most tantalising of all; if atmospheric eeriness is your idea of a good time, then look no further!

VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE – BLOODLINES 2

PC, PS 4, PS 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X

It began as a table-top game, but we guarantee this one won’t leave you board – geddit?! 17 years is a long time to wait for a follow-up to the cult favourite, which is renowned for a depth of gameplay and narrative that has scarcely been rivalled since; fittingly, this one is being looked at as less of a sequel, and more as a whole new beginning. Dark and delicious, this will be one to savour sinking your teeth into!

HOGWARTS LEGACY

PC, PS 4, PS 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Riding a broomstick into our lives (and, we’ll bet, hearts) will be a full-scale open-world RPG – without Harry Potter or his famous friends in sight! Instead, this adventure will draw on the lore of the Wizarding World, and transport players back to Hogwarts in the 1800s. From book to screen, the invention and excitement of the franchise needs no introduction – and if this game delivers like the rest, then you might just have a new favourite on your hands!

A lowdown on the upcoming titles isn’t the only gaming action in PLAY Magazine; we also talked to one of the biggest players on the planet! Check out our interview with DanTDM right here – and make sure you’re in gear by taking a speed test!
