Why We’re VERY Excited For The Return Of Derry Girls

Derry Girls Season 2

We’ve been counting down the days since Season One concluded, but the waiting is almost over – Derry Girls is back! The cracking comedy returns to our screens on Channel 4 (Virgin TV 111) at 9.15pm on Tuesday, and we can’t wait to catch up with the crew!

So why is it one of the most anticipated comebacks of the year? Well, if you need to ask you probably didn’t watch the first go-round – so get on All4 and set that right! But if you still need convincing, here’s why we’re already gearing up for Tuesday night…

THERE’S NEW TREATS ON THE WAY

While details on the whole series have been kept under lock and key, we do know one exciting factoid; sitcom legend and all-round hero Ardal O’Hanlon is joining the show! The Father Ted star plays Eamonn, an awkward mummy’s boy – not a priest, as some people might expect! – and it’s not the only change we can look forward to. At the same time, though, plenty of things stay the same, like…

THE GANG IS BACK TOGETHER!

It’s hard to remember the last girl gang we loved as much as this one – which means that seeing Erin, Orla, Clare and Michelle back together just warms the heart! Oh, and don’t forget about poor James; everyone’s favourite English lad is back for more too! You can’t be individual on your own, after all…

THERE’S LOADS MORE STORIES TO TELL

In a recent issue of PLAY magazine, writer Lisa McGee explained that drawing on personal experience makes the process a lot easier. “In terms of the people, it comes to me very naturally, and I sort of know versions of all of them,” she said. That means we can expect the same blend of wicked wit and daring dialogue that we fell in love with first time around – and that’s music to our ears!

THE TRAILER ALONE HAS US FREAKING OUT!

From an inspirational new teacher to Sister Michael getting her karate on, there’s we’ve already got a ton of teasers as to what’s coming our way. Will they get to see This and That – sorry, Take That?! What’s going to with the Protestant boys? And could Orla possibly manage to make a snow suit cool?! There’s only one way to discover the answers to those questions – and we’re going to be glued to our TVs to find out!
