Costa Coffee

Costa needed a complete overhaul of their existing WiFi system, which had consisted of a number of different solutions from multiple providers at 105 coffee shops around Ireland, resulting in an inconsistent and problematic service for their customers.

These days, customers look for great service when it comes to their coffee and their WiFi.   

Catering and hospitality franchises are discovering that WiFi is not just another customer expectation that needs to be satisfied. Providing a well-connected environment can benefit business by helping organisations get to know their customers, and could even be a form of income generation. It can open up great marketing opportunities, but also increase a sense of community and help make customers feel welcome.  

We installed Virgin Media Business WiFi in each of Costa’s sites across Ireland and Northern Ireland, providing their customers with one free 30-minute Internet session per day and unlimited access for Costa card holders. 

Using their new business WiFi, Costa can now collect user data and analyse customer trends. Customers are also directed to Facebook when they log in, encouraging those all-important ‘likes’. From collected data, Costa can also identify their busiest periods for customer WiFi usage, allowing them to launch new Facebook promotions when more people will see them. Costa have also streamlined their outgoings as each outlet pays a single, flat rate.

Costa Coffee was founded in 1971 by Italian brothers Bruno and Sergio Costa who moved to England in the 1960s. It is now owned by Whitbread PLC and there are more than 3,400 Costa outlets throughout 32 countries.
